Arena 80 October Shenanigans.

It’s all getting very busy again now that the summer season is over so I thought I would just give you a rundown of what is happening during October for you to get your running heads around.

The Harvey Curtis Cup Road Races

There are some key races that we would ask for Arena members to participate in if possible. The Harvey Curtis Cup Road Races is still on for us to retain this trophy which we won in 2016. With two more races left in this challenge we need just 1 more point from the two races remaining.

The next race in the HCC is the Bright10 on Sunday October 15th and this is also part of the club’s Super Series challenge. As the title suggests, it’s a 10 mile race which most of us should have no problem competing in as we are an endurance club after all. If you haven’t signed up yet there are still spaces so if you haven’t already done so then please sign up as every finishing place can make a big difference to the point’s allocation.

Sussex Grand Prix race 2017

The key SGP race is our very own Hove Prom 10k on Sunday 29th October. This is hosted by Arena 80 and we would ask for as many people as possible to help to volunteer for this, in order to help make this go as seamless and easy as possible for us all. This is also a great way for our newer members to get a real feel about Arena 80 and a chance to interact with our members. It’s these sort of events which help to gel the club and work as a team. If you haven’t added your name down to volunteer yet then please do so A.S.A.P and email dannyc@dannyc.co.uk. Arena always manages to put on a good show and the support we give to the athletes running is second to none.

Sussex Cross Country League Races

Of course the cross-country season kicks of this weekend with the relays at the Goodwood Country Park. There seems to be a real ‘up for it’ attitude this year, even more so than in previous years. These races really bring the club and the members together and it’s such a sociable occasion especially as the ladies tend to bring cake along and the men wait for the bits left over. The first league race is on Saturday October 14th back at the Goodwood Country Park with the women’s race at 1.30 and the men at 2.30. Both the men and the women had a good season last year and we are looking to build on this success for the 2017/18 season. If you are interested in these events then speak to our Captains: Dan Vaughan for the men and Dani Tarleton for the ladies.

Arena Social

I know it’s still a long way off but the Arena Christmas party is all booked. We will be having it back at The View on the promenade in Hove. The date is Saturday 16th December so keep your diary’s free for this one. This was a superb social event last year with over 70 attending and I anticipate this being as good if not better than 2016.

We’ll also look to book the Krater comedy night at the Komedia again as this has been requested to go back there. A highly entertaining evening with a lot of laughs and another great hang out with your fellow Areneez.

Ok that should keep you all going for October so please keep supporting your club wherever possible as this club relies on volunteers to keep the club going as without them, there is no club. If you feel that you would like to get involved with the club more and feel you have something to offer then please do let us know as there are so few who do so much however but we could always do with some more help.

In strictly style “keeeeeep running”.
