Get to know…Rebecca Knights

For this weeks chosen club member we are joined by a lady with a heart of gold. She has only been with Arena for just under a year but it feels like she has always been with Arena and fitted in like a hand in glove. Since joining Arena we can see how she has developed and become quite a leading lady out there in races. She is always such a pleasure to hang with and just, put simply, an all round nice person with one of the loveliest, caring natures you will ever meet. Now let’s meet Rebecca knights to find out what she is really all about.
1. When and why did you join Arena:
I joined November last year.  After coming to one of your training sessions many moons ago, you guys stood out to be a very sociable and a lovely bunch of runners.
2. How long have you been running:
For as long as I can remember!  My Gran tells a great story of when I was three.  We arrived at what we thought was a new park but turned out to be just an empty field, to which I just said ‘don’t worry Gran, I’ll just go for a run!’
3. Where did you grow up:
In the West Country, mainly Somerset.  I moved around a lot as a child as my Dad worked on Naval ships.
4. What is something you want to do in the next ten years:
Build on my online baby and children’s clothing buisness and finish writing my children’s book.
5. What do you think was the most important invention in the last 100 years:
The camera.  Having the ability to capture memories, changing perspectives and once in a lifetime moments …..well who can put a price on that?
6. Where was your profile Facebook photo taken:
At my parents in Somerset.  Our twins, Rose and Rex were on their annual hunt for my Dad’s pumpkins.
7. You have charge of the TV remote, what are you watching:
Gavin and Stacey.
8. Tell us about something you’re proud to have achieved:
Raising twins and surviving!!
9. What music are you listening to right now:
I love all types of music, but a playlist is never complete without some classics from the ‘Top Gun’ soundtrack.  One of my favourite runs was around a Miramar where it was filmed.  Running coupled with listening to the soundtrack made for one very special run and I even got a medal that day!
10. Do you have any superstitions:
A few!!! Mirrors!!
11. Quote a line from one of your favourite songs
‘Trying to catch your heart is like trying to catch a star’ (admin says: boy meets girl – waiting for a star).
12. What is your one weakness:
Staying tidy.  I had to ask my husband this one but unfortunately I think I’ll have to agree, there are just not enough hours in the day.
13. What’s your favourite way to relax:
Having a bath and listening to some good songs.
14. What’s something that you aren’t:
Quiet!!
15. What’s something we don’t know about you:
I love horse riding and when I was younger desperately wanted a horse.  After lots of bargaining with my parents they settled on a cat, who was called Pepi.  To compensate not having a horse I trained him to jump over a series of jumps (mainly made up of chairs and boat oars) which as it turned out wasn’t bad!   Using the photo below, my Mum sent it to the BBC’s ‘That’s Life’ and we were selected to feature within the talented pets part of the show.  Not to yet feature on YouTube but I’m thinking about it.

16. Who is your sporting Hero?
Nick Skelton.  As a child I remember watching him all the time, always in complete awe of his showjumping capability. Despite injury with a broken neck he returned to showjumping and won the gold team medal in London and then at the mere age of 58 the Individual gold in Rio. Such an inspiration.
17. What makes you bored:
Being stuck in traffic.
18. What do you get excited about:
Going on holiday.
19. What scares you:
Space, I could never be an astronaut.
20. Who do you admire:
So many friends and family for lots of different reasons but ultimately I would have to say my husband Andy.  Over the ten years we have known each other he has achieved a lot career wise and in family!  He works hard but always stays positive, he is the happiest person I know.
Our biggest thanks to Rebecca for her Q&A’s this week and we hope that you feel that you have now got to know Rebecca a little better. Check back next Wednesday for another set of Q&A’s with our chosen club member.
