Runners gather for Arena Hill Race 2023

Arena Hill Race

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Arena Hill race, which took place on Thursday 29 June. There was a wonderful atmosphere and we witnessed some remarkable performances on the challenging course.

I’m thrilled to announce that Patrick Maher claimed the title of King of the Hill, smashing the course record with a remarkable time of 43:39. He shaved nearly two minutes off the previous record held by Timmy Gedin. Patrick crossed the finish line 10 seconds ahead of Toby Keynes in this handicapped event. On the women’s side, Sue Brumwell emerged as the Queen of the Hill, narrowly edging out Jenny Hughes by a mere 12 seconds. Congratulations also go to Katie Wright, who was the fastest woman of the night, with John Orden second fastest man, and Jo Phillmore second fastest woman.

Thank you to Brigitte Groves, Michele Archer, Bob Page, Rachel Burgess, Richard Bates, Norman Scott and especially Anne Miners for volunteering and organising the event and to everyone that took part and made it a resounding success.
