Two new Arena 80 club parkrun records

Four weeks in to the new year and still the records keep moving on. Both of today’s records break the old club records and both athletes, who were already at the top, have improved on their own records, does that makes sense?
OK let’s break it down to put some clarity on it.
The records both came at Worthing parkrun with one from Emily Proto and one, yet again, from Michael Rix.
Emily had an absolute storming run to get herself a new PB time of 17.30, beating her previous best of 17.39, and was also first lady home. This was Emily’s fastest time here since she set her previous PB back in August 2016 so there’s life in them old bones yet. Emily, who is in full training mode for the Brighton Marathon in April, really is looking in top shape at present and this can only give her confidence moving forward.
The women’s club records now stand:
Worthing parkrun Women
1 Emily Proto 2016 17m 30s
2 Maisie Trafford 2019 18m 05s
3 Caroline Hoyte 2018 18m 06s
4 Tara Shanahan 2018 18m 46s
5 Lucy May Richardson 2018 19m 15s
We move on to the next new club record and it seems that not a week goes by without mention Michael Rix. He’s certainly made a name for himself since re-joining Arena 80 this year. Michael chose Worthing today instead of his usual haunt down at Hove Prom but it was the right decision as he was 8th man home in a time of 17.16. However it was his age grading that was today’s hero for him with an 84.07% which pushes his previous club record of 83.11% in to touch which was set in December. Michael does actually have a top age grading of 85.97% at this course but he wasn’t running under the Arena banner then and I do expect this club record to still move on yet before the end of the year is done.
The men’s club records now stand:
Worthing parkrun Men’s age grading
1 Michael Rix – 84.07%
2 Paul Gasson – 82.88%
3 Dan Vaughan – 81.39%
4 Marc Steene – 80.85%
5 Joe Ashley – 80.82%
