Worthing Half Marathon 2019, Arena on show.

On a bit of a blustery morning over at Worthing, it was time for the annual pilgrimage for many Areneez to make their way over the border to take on the Worthing Half, 21 to be precise.
Emily Proto was today’s golden girl as she took the 1st lady accolade. Emily had previously placed 3rd in 2016 in 86.02, 4th in 2017 in 82.20, 2nd in 2018 in 82.35 but today 1st Lady in 81.31. This is a great confidence boost for Emily has she has main aim for the Brighton Marathon in April and showing that she is in great shape at the present. Huge congratulations from everyone at Arena 80 Emily.
In terms of the 2nd and 3rd ladies home from Arena 80 then we say well done to Katie Wright with 1.33.57 and Emma Habba with 1.40.20.
Our first Arena man home today was Tim Lodge in 1.24.03 who looks to have run very well. Tim is newish to the club so we’re not sure if this is possibly a PB for him but still a great result even so although the weather would not have made this PB territory today.
The 2nd and 3rd Arena men home were Mark O’Gara in 1.26.01 and Andy Payne in 1.28.51 and good to see Andy back competing again.
We would also like to say congratulations to John Orden who had a superb race today to place 2nd in the O60VM in a time of 1.33.26, an excellent race from John and a well deserved 2nd place.
Another good placing came from David Kemp who placed 5th in the O60VM in a time of 1.37.45.
Well done to all of athletes that took to the streets of Worthing today to complete the 13.1 miles and lovely to see so many great results.
It’s always pleasing to see our athletes doing well whether it’s a podium placing, a PB or just racing to the best of their capabilities at the present time. The year is still very young and there are many more races to come for this year and so we look forward to seeing our athletes ‘be the best that they can’ in 2019.
