Another week and yet more arena club records are set

On what must have been the windiest day of the year, that last thing you would expect are PB’s and improvements to the club records, however fear not as it did happen, twice.
First up it’s the Michael Rix weekly update as he pursues his quest to take on all the Arena parkrun age grading records. This week he moved away from his usual haunt of Worthing to tackle his nemesis course, that being Preston Park.
The reason for this being his nemesis course is that on every previous run he has either been injured, ill or on one occasion saw his foot go straight through his shoe at the turn round cone and had to run barefoot for the last mile!!!
Michael came home in 1st place in a time of 17.20 beating his previous best of 17.45 set way back in December 2016. With the new PB comes an age grading of 83.75% which now takes him to the top of the board in the Arena age grading club records.
The club records now stand:
Preston Park Men’s Age grading
1 Michael Rix – 83.75%
2 Paul Gasson – 82.90%
3 Mats Gedin – 82.10%
4 Joe Ashely – 80.93%
5 Marc Steene – 80.86%
Over at Bevendean Down parkrun Arena had sole representation from Lucy Richardson. Lucy totally smashed her previous course record here as she was 1st woman in a time of 22.49 with her previous best here being 25.07 set in November 2018. We’re not quite sure what’s happened to her in the last seven months but maybe she has done a Michael Rix and got herself a new hip as well. This was good enough to now put Lucy in 5th place in the women’s records.
Congratulations to both Michael and Lucy on their new club record improvements on what were truly, very tricky running conditions.
