Arenatopia Round 3 – Results
Results are now in for the latest round of the Arenatopia series, 2,000 metres of spinning right round, baby round round… in circles… or a very small roundabout in the case of Rob – my personal fave!
Fastest among the men was Timmy covering the distance in just 6:12. Followed very closely by Del and Ricky presumably holding virtual hands with 6:18.
For the women, it was Dani speeding away from the competition again hitting the 2000m mark in an impressive 7:12. Second was Isobel with 7:47 followed by Caroline who edged Rachel to third place by just two seconds.
The age grade competition was topped by Del for the men with Mark second with the only 80%+ efforts. Andrew was third, but rather worryingly Timmy, whose only 31 was 4th! We expect him to be a terrifying 60 year old!!
Noticeable absentee was Mr Gasson, giving everyone else a rare moment to shine.
For the women, this season’s new kid on the block Caroline Wood is tearing up the very short Arenatopia history book and comfortably stands at the top of the podium with 85%, next to her are Dani and Jenny – both with 83%.
Overall winner for the combined score for the round was Del, 1st with just 3 points, Timmy second with 5 points with Mark and Ricky sharing third, both scoring 7 points.
Four women share the top 3 positions for the overall round; Caroline and Dani sharing 1st with 3 points and Jenny and Isobel sharing 3rd place both with 9 points.
So, what does this mean for the overall series…
Del continues at the top of the series leader board but last years champion Timmy is closing in fast taking second as he swaps positions with Jim. Ricky isn’t too far away though and has been putting in some serious “training races” making it clear the Arenatopia championship is his number one priority!
Overall for the women we see no change in the top three from the previous round; Caroline 1st, Dani 2nd and Nicky 3rd but Jenny and Rachel are in hot pursuit.
A final note on the round was this particularly race director couldn’t help but notice some lapse interpretations of the rule to start and finish in the same location, as such rather than throw out half the field I have instead awarded each runner who evidenced meeting this requirement an additional point, or minus point depending on how you look at it.
All the tables attached for you all to enjoy!
