Bob Page 3000m 2026: Champions crowned and our first GSSS series winners

One of the landmark events of the Arena 80 calendar took place on Monday 21st September, as runners from across the Brighton running community came together for the annual Bob Page 3000m.

With 52 runners in total, 38 Arenas and 14 guests, the Arena athletes were competing for the annual 3000m winner trophies, plus there were points up for grabs for the climax of our Grand Slam Super Series (GSSS).

After club captain Katie Wright led a warm-up, it was straight into the racing, with the first of four races on the night won by Helena Rooney in 11:55.10. The second race got underway shortly after, with Adam Taylor taking victory in 11:04.17.

Then it was onto the championship races. The Women’s Championship turned into a proper race between three runners: Luisa Ramirez, Laura Howley and guest Freya Hughes.

Last year’s winner Luisa played it cool in the opening stages and picked everyone off until it was between her and women’s vice captain Laura. Entering the final 100m, the two were neck and neck, but in the end Luisa was just too strong, crossing the line in 10:56.34, with Laura only 0.21 seconds behind in 10:56.55. Freya completed the podium in 10:58.03. It was a great way for our first championship race to end.

The men’s championship followed soon after, with 2025 champion Dan Harmer living up to his pre-race favourite status by easing to victory in 9:40.95, ahead of Dan Burton (9:46.80) and Barry Pearson (9:58.07).

Following the race, our 2026 champions were presented with their trophies, and we also handed out the salvers to the first-ever winners of the GSSS: captain Katie in the women’s competition and Dan Harmer in the men’s.

Congratulations to all our winners on the night, and thanks to our guests, who helped make it a brilliant evening.

Finally, the event wouldn’t have been possible without our brilliant volunteers, so a huge thanks to everyone who helped out. Roll on next year!
