Rix kicks and ticks a new Arena club parkrun record

As is the tradition it seems, Michael Rix has set another parkrun Arena club record in the age grading results. Since re-joining in January Michael has been pushing the club age grading results and adding his pin on the map. This new one came from one his favourite courses as he took to the Hove Prom parkrun and came home in a very credible time of 17.17, which is his fastest time here since 2016, but the age grading of 83.99% takes him to the top of the table as he takes over from Paul Gasson’s April 2018 record of 83.22%.
Michael was actually on for a far better age grading but at mile 2 due to an ongoing injury issue, which Bevendean Down parkrun didn’t help, fatigue set in to subdue his expected time. Never the less it’s still a club record an we’ve said it before, there will be more to come from Michael this year we have no doubts.
It’s been mentioned that these are only parkrun records though but what it represents and shows is that the times and the fitness of our members is improving all the time, it also gives our athletes a focus to aim for. As the parkrun records improve will hopefully spill over to races and put Arena 80 ac very much on the running map.
Congratulations Michael on yet another club record.
